Today was a huge day of driving – so ohhh you guessed it another 5am wake-up call – yippee! Our first stop was only about 20 minutes away. It was a natural thermal pool (not a heated spring – apparently there is a difference!) Although it was 7am a little dip in a warm natural thermal pool was amazing – it kind of felt like a nice relaxing bath to be honest.
Next stop of the day was at Daly Waters Pub – which according to Luke (our Guide) was the most famous outback pub…. So naturally we had to stop there for lunch (and a beer). Before we stopped there we stopped at the old Hanger and air strip which was right beside the pub. Apparently this was the very first Airstrip used in Australia! There was this old hanger with all sorts of information and the old controls were still there and everything! It was pretty cool!! Then we ‘flew down’ the runway – Luke drove as fast as he could down the runway – we were in a bus with a trailer so even going 100km was pretty fast! Before we began he stopped at the head of the runway and said – “We can’t fly without flying music”…. So he put on ‘Come fly with me’ by Michael Buble – classic……
After all that flying we were starving so we headed for the Pub… We checked out the inside of this famous pub while lunch was cooking…. It was definitely interesting – lots of goodies left to be hung in the pub… errr proudly I suppose….. For lunch was seasoned steak sandwiches (provided by the tour) and of course a beer for the most famous pub in the outback!
