Tennent Creek to Alice Springs July 1st - Day 6

(Hold on!! Are you reading from the beginning?? Check out Darwin (Kakadu) June 26th - Day One!!) Warning - this is a long one!! Happy Canada Day! This day was my favourite part of this leg of the adventure! Another early wake-up call hit the road and headed to Devil’s Marbles for sunrise!

After sunrise we had brekky at Devil's Marbles and then found some more wacky picture opportunities.

 and that’s when my camera broke – WAHHHHH….. L
Next stop of the day was at the telegraph station – which John Stuart created on his way to Darwin to send messages back to Adelaide. The old wires and the station were still set up which was pretty cool to see. There was also a grave site which was explained to us as two workers who worked at the station who ended up being ambushed at the station and killed. It seems that station is pretty popular in the news for murders – as there was a murder committed not too long ago and the station was back in the news – needless to say I was happy to get out of there.

Our next stop was at this little bar along the way where we stopped for lunch. The bartender was absolutely crazy! Had sooo much stuff from Canada – and lucky for us he knew it was Canada day and he knew we were Canadian (damn Canadian sweaters…) He was definitely a Canadian wannabe!! But we did manage to get a pretty cool picture – behind the bar!!

Next stop was at the Alien stop of the world…. Oh and they ran with the Alien theme – let me tell you! Definitely kind of strange…

Our last stop before we made it to Alice Springs was the ‘Tropics of Capricorn’ – which we crossed, pretty cool! Maybe one day I’ll cross the ‘Tropic of Cancer’ in Canada…..

Back on the bus – and headed to Alice Springs – we managed 1500km in 3 days!

We got to our hostel we all showered and got ready to go out for dinner with the crew. We went to Annie’s for $5 meals (always a bonus) and of course some Canada Day celebrations! It was also the Northern Territory day so there were fireworks everywhere – I kind of felt like they were celebrating for us! Just kidding – but it did make me feel like I was celebrating at home – sort of! After Annie’s we went to a bar called Bojangles – which dare I say it may have been better than the Crazy Horse.
