Ok so I arrived around 9pm (Brisbane time - 7pm Hong Kong Time and 6am Ottawa time) and went through security with a breeze and caught a cab to the hotel that Aunt Debbie and Uncle Percy put me up in for two nights.... This hotel is a 5 star hotel - they people brought up my luggage for me brought me room service, upgraded my room it was fabulous!! it was awesome - I felt like a queen!! My view of the room overlooked the Brisbane river which was gorgeous at night! I woke up in the morning feeling great! I looked out my window only to see that the river was muddy muddy brown - because of the floods! It's sooo devasting how much this stupid weather has affected everyone!! Anyway I get ready and decide to take off for the day and begin to tour around... I went down to the lobby desk and asked for some advice she sent me in a direction with a map... Much to my surprise I found my way around the city without getting lost! AMAZING... I toured around for most of the day - I started with the Botanical Gardens- sooo pretty and smelt sooo good! Basically it's just a park with a lot of trees and pathways and stuff... I just spend the morning there touring around.. there was a walkway that you could take in the trees and over the water - i toured around there and read all of the little information plaques... then i continued and went to "southside" i believe it is called - where two Universities are... It was really cool - the University of Australia reminded me of Queens it was this old antique building that just looked so pretty... and then I crossed another bridge and checked out the Queen st. mall - I've noticed that everything is open all the doors to the "ground level" stores were all opened and you just walked in and out freely - but then there were more levels of the mall too.. it was crazy!
I finished the day by sitting on a park bench in the botanical gardens updating my journal and enjoying the HOT weather... it was awesome! I saw one mean looking spider that I would be ok if I never have to see that again... tried to take a picture but you can't really see the actual spider :( -
After all of that I headed back up to my room and ordered Room Service - pizza yummmm... updated everything and went to bed!
Woke up early in the morning and headed to the airport. I had to check out at 11am and my shuttle to the Sunshine Coast was at 2pm - didn't plan that one well! So I show up at the airport 3 hours early and the girl at the counter says there's a bus there now here's your ticket and go ahead! So lucky for me I ended up getting on that shuttle and not having to kill time in the airport for 3 hours... yay!
