Time for an update!!

Hey all!! So now that I have some quiet time in the hotel I figured it would be a good time to update the blog and let everyone know what I have been up to! So I spent the last week in Hong Kong and now I am in Brisbane! Good update eh??

Let's start at the beginning....
So Farzan, Cassie and I headed to Hong Kong on Thursday January 27th - our flight left at around 10 am - so that means we had to be at the airport at 8am - so that means we were up at 5:30am. The flight was just over 15 hours and none of us got very much sleep thanks to screaming kids and some whatever other reasons. We arrived in Hong Kong at around 2pm on Friday Hong Kong time (so about 1am home time!) We decided to keep going because it would be easier to adjust to HK time instead of having a nap... So we headed to Adam's (Farzan's friend who is putting us up for the week) showered, changed, and what not got something to eat and then decided 9pm would be an ok time to head to bed (we have now been up for about 26 hours). The next day we decided would be our touristy day - because Adam hates tourists and all the things they come to see so he wanted to get it all over with in one day! So off to the Buddha we go... We had to take a cable car up to Buddha and then once up there you have to take what seems like a million steps just to get up to him.. but once we got there it was pretty cool... he is this absolute massive massive Buddha just sitting up there on a hill on top of what seems like everything. It's unfortunate though how touristy Buddha has become - there is even a restaurant inside of Buddha's belly.... that doesn't seem right... We then headed to the Monastary where Cassie and I got our fortunes read - I had the worst fortune ever! I almost cried - haha.. but seriously it was bad! The first part of it said I would be in the middle of a natural disaster and only have the rain forest to hide in - which I find fascinated considering where I am now...

After Buddha we took a ferry to Hong Kong Island and then a tram car (really fast cable trolly) that brings us to the top of "The Peak", which overlooks the Island.. It was actually very pretty. We saw some of the sunset - well before the sun was eaten by the smog and all... We then decided to walk down off the peak back down to the ground..... Well that seemed like it was an eternity it seemed like we were walking for hours and hours! We were all very sore in the morning... One thing about Hong Kong - everybody walks everywhere there is tons and tons of walking!! My legs have never been so toned.. and all after a week! lol..

We then went to a town called SoHo where we sucked up how tired we all were - and went out for a few drinks... we went to a Russian Ice Bar - where we had to wear parkas to get into the bar because quite literally it is a freezer, we took a shot of vodka - got our second wind and went to the next bar - The Keg. The Keg is a Canadian bar - it had a Canadian flag outside of it, the Vancouver game was playing, there was Canadian money and Canadian tire money on the wall! Pretty cool - one thing that sucked was the Toronto Maple Leaf jersey framed on the wall - I'm almost all the way around the world and that's what I see.. grrr...

That was a full packed day of our touristy fun stuff :D .... after all that we headed to bed! Hey we made it until after midnight this night!!
