Ok so the next day we visited Stanley which is a crazy little town that has all of these little markets (kind of like a flea market) - you have to know exactly what you want when you go there because otherwise you'll get sucked into the crazy world of retail :S... This is the place that you would want to buy all of your tacky souvenirs and nick nacks... but it was kind of cool to see! We then went to another crazy little town (I can't remember the name of it - because I haven't updated this in so long) Because February 3rd is Chinese New Year - there was decorations and little things going on the enitre week. Well this little town had a crazy fair going on..... nooooo not like the fairs you're thinking of at home - like the Richmond Fair, or the Metcalfe Fair, or the Carp Fair (etc) this fair was nuts! Basically you walked into this little aisle way, where you were shuffled around like a sardine in a can.... and there were no fun rides like at home - or no awesome dance with lots of booze and everyone you know and no live band... nope not at all! There were all these vendors selling the most tacky stuff - for example a giant waffle - what's the purpose - I have NO clue! But that is what they consider a fair... Then after all of that excitement we went for dinner at a restaurant called Hay Hays - which apparently you have to go to when you visit this little town! Actually we only went to the town for Hay Hays... it was really good food though - Real Chinese food (which we had the night before and I tried everything :S) soooooo I didn't go too daring - I literally just had lemon chicken... But it was really really good - the best lemon chicken I've ever had... lol...
So the next day would be Monday January 31st... Adam decided that he wanted to take us to a small fishing village out yonder - where we had to take a ferry to get to. Oh by the way at this point in time we have taken every kind of transportation imagineable except for - of course - a car and a taxi. We have taken multiple kinds of buses (all of which I get really sick on because they are death rides), ferries, subways, trains, planes you name it (well we actually only took a place to get to Hong Kong but you get the picture). Anywayyyy - we went to this little fishing village - Adam lives in the suburbs (if you will) of Hong Kong, and we had visited Hong Kong Island which is packed full of crazy people so now he wanted to take us to the "God's Country" (if my dad were speaking) the outback of Hong Kong, where the men are "men" and all the little fishy are scared... And that was pretty much all that was there. There were all these little cafes with dead fish hanging out in the open for people to pick and choose which semi dead creature they would like to take home and eat... or eat there if they prefered.. there were little hillbilly houses and scary back alleys... now don't get me wrong I am a hillbilly at heart - but if there's a line that town would have crossed it... It was neat to see for about 30 minutes but we spent 2 or 3 hours there so 2 or 3 hours too long!! Oh yeah on the dead fish topic the next day Adam took us to another small little village - where instead of dead fish there were live ones swimming in little tanks and they were skinned and chopped up right there in front of your eyes... *puke* oh wait it gets better - not only were there fish, there was frogs, skinned pigs, skinned ducks... oh and did I mention chickens THAT WERE ALIVE - they decapitated, plucked and skinned them all right there with every body watching..... yummmmm.... oh wait still gets better - did I mention that I was soooooooo hung over?? No - well I'll talk about that one later! So back to the fishing village - we jump on a ferry and head back to the "suburbs" where we decide to go to a Turkish restaurant.... This is where I forced Miss. Cassie to drink two peach schnapps and orange juice (all the guys were drinking and bugging us for not drinking so I gave in...). Well first of all Cassie is not much of a drinker - second of all she is ALLERGIC to peach schnapps - I didn't know I swear! So on our death bus ride home - she has now passed out and turned really red in the face - and it's only about 7pm.... oopssss... So we take Cassie home and put her in bed then Farzan and I head to the bar to meet Adam and his friends... where a couple of drinks turned into an entire night filled with multiple double drinks and ... tequilla... :S - Did I mention the word Hung Over already?? Anyway we somehow managed to get ourselves back to Adams.... in one piece... once there all I'm going to say - there was puking involved - and not just by me... Somehow Farzan was the only one not puking (who had been drinking beer allllll day long). Those are all of the details I'm going to give on this topic if you would like more - please message me on facebook where I will reveal the details to a select few! lol...
